The Feast of St. Patrick

March 20, 2007

Celtic

There is no way I will do it justice but not writng some reflections is no option either so here is my best attempt to capture in a few bullet points a most amazing weekend.

– Tracy and I and many others have been praying for over a year now every day at 10:02am that God would avenge the deaths of Chad and Palmer and raise up 100 workers, leaders who will carry the vision to plant grassroots faith communities all over Cincinnati, Columbus and cities across our region and nation. The prayer is inspired by obedience to Jesus order to pray for laborers in Luke 10:2. Ekblad had no idea of this prayer commitment and dream many of us carry but as he ended his talk he transitioned into the prayer time with this passage on his lips called people forward. The Lord spoke to me in that moment that the prayers of the past year were coming to life, being incarnated right before my eyes. Of course this took on immense meaning that I can not even describe when I prayed for a couple guys who both recently connected to Christ and the VC community (Matt and Chris) and then Renee… When I was relaying this to Tracy the next day her alarm went off… the 10:02 alarm and she said ‘that is the third time that has happened this weekend! I will be talking to someone about this prayer or about leaders being raised up and the alarm goes off.’ Our prayer that morning was tears of gratitude…

– Pappa T also prayed for me after Ekblad spoke. I was trying to pray for people and he was kinda following me around. I thought maybe he wanted to pray with me but turns out he wanted to pray for me. He prayed for the gift of being a spiritual father. Whammie. Bullseye. Nailed. I was honored and blessed in deep ways, in deep places that connected to core callings in my life. One of the things he prayed for was being a father to the fatherless. Right after the ministry time ended a friend came up to me and said that a student i was going to start mentoring in a couple weeks father had just committed suicide that day. i needed those prayers. My new fatherless friend needed those prayers to be prayed as well. Lord, have mercy!

– Keck took ‘Mater back east… ‘Mater is a 58 Chev truck… God bless us all, flesh and metal alike!

– T Hunter Friday night after Andy’s chicken… good times

– Marshall’s video montage of hope – Elpida! A worthy tribute to our beloved brother Palmer. No dry eyes for those who knew him…

– Smokin’ sticks East coast style with Pappa T and Kenny on the back deck.

– Singing: “Send us out as soldiers… send us out as servants… send us out as children knowing full well who our father is…” “We long to see your kingdom come… we long to be reunited….” “Let Your kingdom come… let it come in fullness, in power, in glory…” Thanks Beth and Kenny and Janet. Moving.

– Wild Goose fabric. Wow.

Thousands of words...

– Special thanks to our main sessions speakers (Hunter, Ekblad, and Hunsberger) and all the break out session leaders. Nice work friends!
