Seek first and 2 cars will be added unto you.
I had lunch yesterday with Dave Thompson. He asked me how the 20 hours a week was going. For those who don’t know I am working at the shop only 20 hours a week currently. My response was that i struggle with mixed feelings of sheer delight and freedom and joy to have more margin and time to serve my neighbors and church mingled with mild fears and concerns of not being responsible and tending to a business that “needs” more of me. One of my main roles at the shop is getting work in the shop and keeping a steady workflow. i tend to be pretty good at landing jobs and helping people feel confident about leaving their car in my shop’s care. So naturally (i.e. in the natural) I worry about only being there half the time and our work flow being cut in half which the shop could likely not survive on. Then i got a call from Jason my assistant manager. “Hey Kevin just wanted to let you know 2 more cars came in today both hit really hard in the front.” Now I don’t want to get excited by other’s misfortune but front end collisions tend to pay out really well. Those two jobs alone could keep one or two of my guys (out of 3) busy for the better part of next week.
So, i guess I’m not so important after all. Thank God! When i (try to) do his job i get overwhelmed. When I do mine and trust him things like this start to happen.
one mans bad driver is another mans job security …

do you ever feel like a sick-twisted bastard when your livelihood is tied to collisions, snowy-icy roads and folks who don’t pay attention to their driving because they’re trying to steer while talking on their cell, with a cup of coffee in the other hand and an unfiltered Camel dangling from their mouth? No judgement…just wondering.
awesome… i heard your handing out free cellphones, coffee, and dolls that won’t stay buckled into their car seats…
