Sláinte Mhor!!! i wish i could gather with you for a couple pints o’ guinness, but you’ll have to settle for some wordcraft just for you…and yes, i am comparing you to nehemiah, may you build up the people of Jesus as nehemiah built up the walls of jerusalem!:

    the concern of the cupbearer

    concerned is the cupbearer
with a shepherding heart does he conceal
the anguish and concern for a people, the barren to rebuild

    His God does he serve
and from halls of kingly extravagance
He goes out to the city walls with courage and with diligence

    to instill into a people
scattered and broken before the rubble of time
and wailing for this city and people scarred and burned and blind

    the city of His Honor
Once marked with such beauty and magnificence
the glory now marred and dirty, no incense for fragrance

    yet this servant does approach
and with a brave heart does he equip
His people for ruin to re-work with rough hands and hardship

    and this precious people rebuild
in the face of bitter words of condemnation
the walls of a city and a people reborn with new celebration

and so this humble servant of old
he did faithfully execute his duty
to his God and people restore with meek and gentle beauty

K-Monk, here’s a late birthday present from the Northwest! I’m coming home from church and the radio is on the national ESPN channel and they’re talking basebal and then all of a sudden after a commercial break the national host starts talking about Cornhole. It seems there was a front page story this week in the Wall Street Journal about Cornhole. So this guy goes on and on about cornhole and how huge it is, especially in the Midwest. In fact, in Cincy, they’re getting ready for the Carson Palmer Cornhole invitational. I just started laughing and thought, there’s Kev again, on the cutting edge of community life with Cornhole on the Piazza! Thought I’d share the wonderful way God interjects humor and our lives intertwined, even through a game called Cornhole. Thought you’d like to know.

    grace!
