What’s next? A preview of a series of posts…

July 7, 2011

After considering the “authority question” (since i really do think that is a central concern) I want to explore what I see coming next in this era of church history (broad strokes) and what is next for me (personally & locally over the next 10 years or so)

So to that end I want to do a series of exploratory posts.

What’s next is…
* local
* monasticism 2.0
* urban (and suburban and rural!)
* green as gardens
* not led by consensus or charisma
* built around practices (getting beyond doctrinal alignment as the standard for unity)

What else do you see as central to this discussion of “What’s next?”

    have you been peeking into our Pittsburgh conversatrions!? Those are exactly the conversation topics we’ve been having in seeking to discover what God is calling us into in urban Pittsburgh. In fact, I just did a little research and piece on secular monasticism. I think the “built around practices” is a significant aspect, have you read James K.A. Smith’s book “Desiring the Kingdom”? It’s all about exactly that…

    Looking forward to reading your thoughts and talking with you, and others, on “monasticism 2.0” and “not led by consensus or charisma.”
    Also, have I ever told you that I am glad to live in Norwood with you?
